Coca-Cola has been rated the most popular soda in the world. Many people have grown up with Coca-Cola and have loved it ever since. Coca-Cola was founded in 1892. Coca-Cola is the largest beverage manufacturer and distributor in the world and is one of the largest companies in the United States. The company was originated by pharmacists John Pemberton. Pemberton first touted the drink as a tonic for a common ailment, basing it off of cocaine from a coca leaf and kola nut for its rich extracts. The company stopped being cocaine in the drink in 1903. It’s crazy to think that if cocaine was put in a soda nowadays, there would be serious consequences to that company. The company no longer puts cocaine in the soda but still does use coca leaf to make the drink. The headquarters of Coca-Cola is located in Atlanta. The formula to make Coca-Cola is locked away in a vault located at the headquarters. It is said that only two people know the full formula of Coca-Cola and they are not allowed to travel together. This is so no one is able to figure out how the two people are. Nowadays, soda can be a little on the high price side, even Coca-Cola. But from 1886-1959, the company did not change their price on the drink. The price of their drink stayed the same all those years. Also, many people have wondered why the brand name looks the way it does. In the beginning launch for Coca-Cola, formal handwriting was very popular. So, they decided to stick with formal writing and it hasn’t been changed since. The bottle shape of the company is also unique. The company made their glass bottles in the shape of the cocoa pod, which I find to be pretty cool! They had only made these bottles until 1960. After 1960, they introduced can soda along with still branding the bottles. Another cool thing about the company is that they have sponsored the first olympic commercial. A lot of this stuff I had not known about until I had done some in depth research. Personally, Coca-Cola is my favorite soda and I hope you enjoyed learning more about the uniqueness of Coca-Cola like I did!
