The history of soda goes way back, probably further than you may think. Soda was introduced to the public in the 18th century. Its purpose was to cure a variety of illnesses. Many thought that carbonated drinks contained healing powers. It was first offered only in pharmacies and other medicines companies. Soon after, soda became a part of American culture and soda machines were showing up everywhere across America. People would gather around and enjoy a nice cold soda. Some of the other oldest sodas are, Schweppes(1783), Vernors Ginger Ale(1866), Hire Root Beer(1876), Fioravanti(1878), Moxie(1885), Dr Pepper(1885), Coca-Cola(1886), and Pepsi(1893). Some of these drinks are now not as popular as they were back in the day, but you can still find them in select soda pop shops. in Los Angeles. I have had all these sodas and they are delicious! I hope one day you will be able to try them too.
